Pentas lanceolata (Egyptian star)
Although native to Arabia, it is very difficult to obtain seedlings and very difficult to grow from seed (in other words, I have never succeeded!). You need to keep in the shade, especially during summer, and even then, some will die.
It produces clusters of small star flowers that are red/ purple/ pink/ white in a plant that is only about 20cm tall, so it is best as a pot plant. It tends to get rather straggly when it gets older and it does not like being cut back, so it is best grown as an annual (if you have a reliable source).
