Caesalpinia pulcherrima (Pride of Barbados)
A large bush (3 m) that flowers continuously, with big sprays of either yellow or red flowers with very long stamens.
It is very easy to grow and very hardy is either sun or shade, so it is very abundant. It disadvantage is that after flowering, new shoots develop further back down the stem and the old shoot dies. You therefore have to keep cutting off dead wood, which are covered in small spines. In addition, most people want to keep it cut back to a smaller size. To be healthy, it requires a great deal of water, otherwise you will be left with many dead stems.
