Caladium
Caladium "Pink Lady"
Caladiums are arums, so the flowers are fairly boring tubular spathes, which I normally cut off. The heart-shaped leaves are coloured with white/ pink/ red and may be huge 60 cm, depending on how happy is the plant. Similarly, the amount of colour is very variable depending on how happy is the plant.
They are grown in the shade and start as a small tuber. Most will continue growing during the summer, but if they die down to the ground, do not worry, they are very tough and will come back up when it gets cooler. However, the tubers can be kept for months indoors, if you are having trouble keeping the plant going during the summer.
In my experience, the tubers do not divide much even over a period of many years, so how the nurseries achieve this reproduction, I am not sure.
