Pandorea
1. Pandorea jasminoides is a beautiful woody climber (so best attached to a frame), growing at least 4m. It is best grown with its roots in the shade, but flowering in the sun (but needs shade during the summer, e.g. by putting up shade cloth). It is winter flowering, with sprays of large very pale pink flowers (photo above) or slightly darker flowers (photo below). Can be grown from seed.
2. Pandorea ricasoliana (also called Podranea) has even more attractive darker pink flowers and better adapted to the heat than P. jasminoides (although I have them growing side by side) and so flowers much more profusely. It too is best grown with its roots in the shade, but it flowers in the sun throughout the year with spectacular long-lasting sprays of flowers.
