Abelmoschus moschatus
Closely related to Hibiscus with flowers as big and virtually identical. But although it grows up to 2m high, it is not actually woody. It is thus an "annual" and may die down in the summer, but if watered, it frequently keeps going for years. It has an underground tuber and so if it dies down, it may later grow up again from the soil.
It is easy to grow from seed and will flower frequently throughout the year, with flowers that may be over 10cm in diam.
Like Hibiscus, it is constantly attacked by mealybugs.
